Farmer's Market Review

            Farmers markets started more than 5,000 years ago in Egypt where farmers along the Nile came together to sell their fresh produce. In the United States the first  farmers market  in the United States opened in 1634 in Boston, Massachusetts. The purpose of this event is to provide local healthy fresh food to the local consumers at an average cost. Besides the retail sales, farmers markets also help local farmers to make farming profitable. The field trip to the farmers market that was recently held at the Richard Daily center located in the downtown Chicago area saw a huge participation of local farmers as well as local consumers. The market was clean, stands well disposed and a broad range of food were exposed. I was more attracted by artisan bread produced by Nick from Pilsen.
